Around 40% of these injuries involved children 16 and under. Another study conducted in the mid 2000’s concluded that 147,000 people were treated for golf cart injuries from 1990 to 2006.

Not all golf cart injuries stem from driving on golf courses. In many communities throughout Florida, golf carts have become the central means for travel. They are also used at airports, sports facilities, parks, hospitals, colleges, and many other locations. Because of this, there are many more opportunities for accidents to occur.

In Florida, anyone over the age of 14 can operate a golf cart. There are no restraints such as seat belts on most, and you do not need a driver’s license to take one for a drive.
Drinking and Driving
In some cases, people taking golf carts out while intoxicated. This is a disaster waiting to happen. If the cart were to roll over, there are no safety features to prevent such an incident.
Faster Golf Carts
Golf carts are also becoming increasingly faster. An average cart can now reach about 25 miles per hour. Golf cart batteries also last a lot longer because of the existence of better battery life.
